HAGAR TOWNSHIP, Mich., (December 12, 2022) – SPI Blow Molding, a custom injection molder located in Hagar Township, Mich., will soon expand its operations, generating a total capital investment of $1.3 million, retaining 40 jobs, and creating six new jobs. The additional 12,000 square feet will provide necessary space for additional production equipment, secondary operations and storage of inventory.

"Our focus as an economic development organization is to work with municipalities to create a business environment that allows new industries to invest in the community and grow," said Cathy Tilley, Cornerstone Alliance Director of Business Development. "We are proud that SPI Blow Molding decided to expand its operations in Berrien County. Without the support of the Hagar Township Board, this project would not have occurred. The increased investment and creation of jobs will have a positive impact on Hagar Township."

Cornerstone Alliance requested an Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption at the Hagar Township Commission meeting this evening on behalf of the plastic fabrication company. Approval was received upon the request.

"I have always supported tax incentives to qualified industrial or commercial firms that choose our great Township to relocate or expand their operations and increase employment," said Izzy DiMaggio, Hagar Township Supervisor. "Our Township Board has approved a number of tax incentives, all of which have proven to be successful, which should send a signal that we are open to business for qualified firms in the proper zoned areas. SPI Blow Molding has proven to be a good corporate citizen, and I am pleased that they are proposing an expansion in Hagar Township with increased employment."

SPI Blow Molding has been a custom injection molder since 1952. SPI quickly became an innovator to the fledgling plastics industry. That same innovative spirit exists today.

"SPI Blow Molding is excited to be expanding our footprint to better support our key partners heavily invested in Made in America products. We take a lot of pride in the partnerships we have developed and nurtured over the years and this includes working closely with Cornerstone Alliance, Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the community in which we live and work. Our location in SW Michigan/Berrien County and proximity to both distribution and customers helped one of the largest manufacturers of modular floating systems in the world, choose us to be their first and primary US Manufacturing location," said John Doster, SPI Blow Molding President and Owner. "The additional space will give us room to grow with our current customers looking to work with an organization striving to become a World Class Custom Blow Molder. At SPI Blow Molding, we 'Deliver Excellence in All That We Do' and the support of our community is foundational to that effort. We are grateful for that support."

You will find SPI injection and blow molding presence on a wide range of parts. Its injection molding division delivers to such diverse industries as Freight Securement, Emergency Vehicles, Safety, Agricultural, Musical Instrument Cases, Electronic (Thin-Wall) components, Plumbing/Fluid handling and Hand Tools.

The expansion project is set for completion in late May 2023. Those interested in learning more about SPI Industries should visit moldedparts.com.
