BENTON HARBOR, Mich., (May 20, 2022) – Cornerstone Alliance, Berrien County's lead economic development agency, announced the installation of free public Wi-Fi in the Benton Harbor Arts District. The new network offers a free wireless internet connection to anyone located in the Arts Park, creating accessibility for residents and visitors alike.

The City of Benton Harbor is improving each day through completion of innovative projects. This project is intended to elevate the status of downtown Benton Harbor, attracting business investment, residents and visitors to the urban core of the community.

The Arts District Public Wi-Fi network is easy to join. Users simply agree to the network's terms and conditions to receive instant internet access.

“We’re excited to continually witness the City of Benton Harbor welcome new storefronts, restaurants, and residential activity downtown,” said Zach Vaughn, Business and Physical Development Project Manager at Cornerstone Alliance. “Accommodations made for public use also create meaningful value for businesses, residents, and visitors. It heavily compliments one’s shopping, dining, entertainment, and overall experience here within the Arts District."

Guests of the upcoming KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship are encouraged to join the network and visit exploremishore.com for wayfinding information about events, entertainment, shopping, and dining during their stay in Michigan's Great Southwest. The website also includes a schedule for the water taxi, which will provide free weekend rides across the St. Joseph River. The water taxi will operate Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

This project reflects the consistent effort to help make Southwest Michigan an attractive place to live, work, and play. Potential expansion is considered but will be determined by usage and level of support shown by the community.

Arts District Public Wi-Fi is brought to you by Cornerstone Alliance, Ken Ankli, Developer of Quarternote Lofts, and the City of Benton Harbor. Arts District Public Wi-Fi is intended for outdoor use only.
