(November 2, 2015-Benton Harbor) Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce and Cornerstone Alliance announced today the launch of a new twist on their annual meeting-the 2016 Business Recognition Breakfast, Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center. This event will honor Chamber member organizations as well as Cornerstone Alliance award winners for their commitment, focus and achievements in our business community.
Historically, the annual meeting of the two non-profits has been an evening affair and according to Chris Heugel, President, Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce the change is a direct response to survey results collected earlier this year. “We polled attendees from the 2015 Annual Meeting and when we studied the survey results, we discovered an overwhelming desire for something different,” said Heugel. “We took the great suggestions and are excited for the change. Together with Cornerstone Alliance we are delighted to honor our local businesses and their contributions at the 2016 Business Recognition Breakfast.”
Greg Vaughn, Vice President, Business Development, Cornerstone Alliance offered, “As we continue to work with the Chamber and focus on our local businesses and their significance on Michigan’s Great Southwest’s economic vibrancy, we look forward to another event where we can gather ,recognize and celebrate their achievements.”
While both organizations share the same address at 38 W. Wall Street in downtown Benton Harbor, and work to promote, attract and expand businesses, they are two separate entities. Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce is a member-driven 501-C6 not for profit encouraging the growth of their business members through networking, advocacy, visibility and benefits. They earned their national accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 2014
Cornerstone Alliance is Berrien County’s premiere economic development organization focusing on attracting investments for new industry, job creation; working with businesses throughout the county to expand and grow as well as work to launch entrepreneurs and help small businesses grow.
