Darren Mayer Performance Engineering, Inc. (DMPE), a designer of custom superchargers for race cars, received approval tonight from the Village of Stevensville Trustees on a tax abatement for construction of a 4,920 square foot building at 5782 St. Joseph Avenue, Stevensville, MI. The expansion project is in response to an increase in product lines, requiring more equipment and additional space. DMPE will retain ten jobs, create three new jobs and invest more than $500,000.

Cornerstone Alliance, Berrien County's lead economic development agency, has been working with DMPE on this project for several months and presented the tax abatement on their behalf.

"Our business has experienced tremendous growth and we needed additional space to deliver on the increasing needs of our global customer-base," said Darren Mayer, DMPE's founder. "We were looking to either buy an existing building or build new. It made the most sense to construct a facility that met our needs."

"DMPE has been doing business in the Village of Stevensville for 13 years," said Tiffany Moore, Village Clerk. "We are very glad they are expanding here and will support their growth."

"Successful companies like DMPE that continue to grow and stay in Berrien County certainly strengthen the region’s economy," said Greg Vaughn, Cornerstone Alliance’s Chief Operating Officer and Vice-President, Business Development. “We are appreciative of our municipality partner, the Village of Stevensville for their role in securing the abatement and supporting DMPE's growth and expansion in Michigan's Great Southwest.
